Et tu, Brute?

You picked me up when I was down
Molded, sculpted to your design
I willingly accepted
The rearranging of my mind

Kai sy, Teknon

I didn’t ask for what you offered
Neither you for I
Our shared efforts
Produced works pleasing to the eye

Et tu, Brute?

My confidence swelled
As toil turned to pride
You were a steady hand
A muse more than a guide

Kai sy, Teknon

Now it’s with some trepidation
That I realize
The knife sliding into me
Should have come as no surprise

Et tu, Brute?

The seer had warned me
Had seen it with his closed eyes
The things the heart blinds one to
In the end may take ones life

You Too, Brutus?

You too, child?

Thanks, it definitely inspired the poem! I’m going to try and incorporate more historical/poetry in the future. Thanks for the kind comments!
