If love were sex
And fish had necks,
One would not sing
Of a wedding.
But croon instead
Of giving head,
Or shout aloud
Of being proud,
Their lusty load
For minutes flow’d
While lovers sigh,
Orgasms nigh…

Yes

If love were sex,
There’d be no ex.
For sex is brief
And foregoes grief
From love obscure.
’Tis true and more,
If love were sex.

If sex were love
And held above
As sacrament
For love’s ascent
To sacred heights,
Then neophytes
Would never “fuck”,
Nor would they suck.
And dirty speak
Would lose its chic,
While love would be
Missionary.

No

If sex were love,
Come push to shove
Lovers frustrate
Would seal their fate
And yield to lust;
As we all must.
If sex were love.

But sex is sex.
It’s not complex.
It’s only love
That is thought of
As sacrosanct;
Good sense outflanked.
With due respects,
If fish had necks.
