“I am thinking about having an affair,” she said.
“Cause I am really not totally sexually dead.”
She said that she pined
And wanted to find
Someone to join her at night in her bed.

I asked if she had a list of candidates.
Not usually a subject one often mitigates.
She couldn’t resist.
She read off a list
Of potential and willing new mates.

I asked if she had made any more plans.
If it was just one of her wifely demands.
“It is just a thought.
That’s far as I’ve got,
And right now that is just how it stands.”

“Well please tell me just what you decide.
I am pleased you’re not trying to hide
Your inner desire,
This womanly fire,
And I am pleased that you have decided to confide.”

Right this minute she is out on the town
Most likely she is right now laying down.
Probably not alone.
I sit by the phone,
And wonder if she has been removed from her gown.
