What does the future hold
What does the past contain
The echos of our thoughts
And remembrances of our pain.

Look in the mirror
See all that has gone before
Build your self esteem
The future holds time for more.

Arrested in time and frozen in place
A simple photo the past relates
Form and color are remembered here
An unchanging glance communicates

With these expressions greet unknown
Hope and fear and surprise and joy
Project ahead what has gone before
To an old man's eyes reflect a boy

Beneath each stone a past exists
A love, a hate, a joy, a death
Reflections cease the past betrays
Live now and savor every breath
