A fresh, fluffy blanket of snow had fallen in the wee hours as we slept and now the morning
sun played on the little ice crystals that bent its rays into rainbow colors. Everything was
piled with rounded mounds of cake icing. Our window seat afforded the most beautiful view
of the woods cloaked in its ermine finery.

As I sat there with a hot cup of tea, a large gray wolf loped into view and stopped to stare at
me through the window. I knew without a doubt that I was privileged to see the pack's
alpha male. Just then, you quietly entered the room and stood watching me. Suddenly, I
made the connection....Master....alpha wolf....Master wolf....of course! Yes....the wolf....the
man....so alike in the dominance of their worlds.

Their stance is the first thing I notice....sure....steady....controlled....yet controlling.

Then their eyes....riveting....unwavering....mesmerizing....certain of their dominance....yet not
unkind.

They guard and protect....fiercely....their homes....mates....to the well-being of all.

As leaders, they carry heavy burdens....responsibilities....decisions.

Their role as providers takes different courses....hunting for the wolf....working to earn a
living
for the man....yet both bring food and home.

Discipline is meted out when necessary with a look...a touch....even a heavy hand
occasionally.
I note that the wolf will often grab his mate with his teeth, yet the teeth never break the
skin.
Master is like that. He uses his hands and voice to hold, but never harms his sub.

Both are communicators....with voice....looks....body language.

Faithfulness and loyalty are their trademarks....an inherent necessity to their dominance.
They
are repaid with love and trust.

Yes, although their styles may be different, they are the same....my Master and the alpha
wolf.
