When the darkness descends on me
As it does more and more
It drives every reasonable thought from me
That black dog sitting by the open door
Over there, can’t you see it too
That ringing in my mind
Drowning out all other sounds
I know what crazy feels like, you see
Smiling on the outside, hiding the pain
Dying inside, dead, decaying
I reach for my instrument
That one with all my songs contained within
I hit play
Songs from my past come flowing over me
Drowning the dog that is sitting on me
Music you see
Can help my insides
The music from happier times
So many songs singing in me
Lifting this fog that burdens me
Music to my ears they say
Yes the music has saved me again.

Lyrical and calming; yet revealing the darkness which weighs heavily.

Oh but so evocative, and yes, there are times only music can rouse one from the depths or keep the black dog in his kennel xxxx
