If you could, for one moment, use my eyes
Instead of yours, to see you as I do,
You’d finally understand (without the lies
You tell yourself that simply are not true
About your lack of beauty and perceived
Unworthiness) all that you have achieved!

That you’ve not only caught my eye and heart,
Enchanting daily as if newly met,
But others, too, that meet you often start
At just how perfect that you are! And yet
You call me liar when you disavow
Because you cannot see what I see now.

You think that I am blind, or flattering;
I must be spouting things you want to hear,
Obliged because you’re mine, and that your ring
Elicits empty praise throughout the year.
Oh, that there were a way to give you sight
To see the goddess that you are tonight!
