An emptiness sits within
Drowning all desires
Knowingly destroying hope
Leaving pain behind

Overcoming the need
Or is it a want?
Making peace with fate
Just seems impossible

Some learn to manage
The long lonely drought
Others seek distractions
Friendships lessen the hurt

Overcoming the need
Or is it a want?
How do I tell?
Make it go away

The answer is obvious
A loving relationship
Easier said than done
When will it happen?

Overcoming the need
Or is it a want?
If it never happens
Does it really matter?

Positivity goes a long way
But reality still bites
Hope fades, dreams die
She tries to love herself

Overcoming the need
Or is it a want?
It's a bit of both really
She needs some company.
