In hot water
up to my nose
if you were here
I suppose,
We’d talk and laugh
and reminisce
the things we have
the things we miss,

We were young
everyone was
why did we do it?
just because,
At the time it seemed
like the thing to do
if only
we knew,

Colorado
up in the hills
outside Boulder
sensual thrills,
Too much dope
too much time
too many
free-verse rhymes,

We played with words
with played with life
you wanted a husband
I wanted a wife,
I wanted kids
you did not
perhaps was your womb
that I sought,

So we danced all night
worked all day
lived to the fullest
so they say,
Then the Draft Board
called my name
and nothing was ever
ever the same,
