We didn't need a special day to set our hearts afire
Chocolate, roses, teddy bears never were required
Some days we'd say "I love you" til we'd wonder- is it too much?
But if we were addicted we were quite happy with our
crutch!

Within your pain, I helped you celebrate your inner child
And you took my shyness and found in me my hidden inner wild
You had my back, and vice versa, together we were strong
For 16 years, we forged a home where we could both belong

Even as mind and body failed, you still looked out for me
"Hope" was your last lesson - you knew how I would be
Though ups and downs have followed me, I heed your final dream
To mend my pain and in my eyes regain a hopeful gleam

Forever I will love you and remember all we shared
We fought, we cried, twas hard but we knew and so we dared
To forge a love that too few find - we were damn lucky, dear
Thank you, darlin, for giving me no reason to feel fear.

And, so, today, I honor you - my love , my hope, my life
Don't matter that it's V-day, but after all you were my wife
