How can I say in a single word
How very much I miss you tonight
Sitting alone, self-assured,
That I might have said it right?

Shudder I may within my prayers
As evening again does fall,
As silence, again, as always, dares
To summon upon His call.

I light the candle, set the song;
Stare into my mind;
For a distant touch this writer longs
While cutting these words of rhyme.

How can I convey with a single word
The tear of the mourning dove?
If I answer in honest ways,
I utter the only one possible—

“LOVE.”
