On the road to Timbuktu
or is it Cotopaxi
in my old pickup truck
not some London taxi,
You and I
you and me
whatsyourname
I’ll call you Bree,

A chameleon
a shape shifter
the engine noise
a loose lifter,
Like the band’s
rhythm section
constant tempo
our direction,

As we sing
as we laugh
drinking from
a wine carafe,
Passing it
back and forth
we navigate
the winding course,

To the place
we are going
having no
way of knowing,
What we will find
when we get there
such an un-
likely pair …
