One event changed her life.
She thought everything would be ok.
Until she made one mistake.
That tragically altered her life that day.

If we could see the future, to stop before we start.
Or turn back time before it tares our life apart.

Sometimes there are no second chances.
With the grave mistakes we make.
One event was all it took.
Sit back think it through.
Before you give it all away.

She had too many drinks.
She went to the wrong place that night.
But she thought it would be ok.
Until she took that fateful flight.

She thought . . .
I'll weather this storm and everything will be alright.
The straw that broke the camels back.
It changed her life in untold ways tonight.
She drove drunk on a military base.
Her two little girls in tow.
Pulled over by MP's . . . Spent the night in the hole.

Courts took her girls away.
She never saw them again.
Some people are dealt a bad hand.
Some people keep making mistake.
They don't seem to understand.

Ten years have passed.
She waits for their return.
A life spent in limbo.
Not knowing where to turn.

Hopelessness sets in with every passing day.
She takes another drink to drown her sorrows away.

Days turn to years, still no sight of their return.
They can't find it in their hearts to forgive.
A sorrow she can't relive.

Booze and Pills have taken over her life.
No one left to give her advice.

She gets a tiny pension, enough to rent a room.
There she sits waiting for them.
Convinced they will save her soon.

She talks about them night and day.
She needs a friend that's true.
But her drinking chases them all away.

She sits alone, waiting for her girls to come home.
Days turn to years, convinced it will never happen.
One cold lonely night she takes a bottle of piles to wash her torment away.

One day her daughters had a change of heart.
But she was nowhere to be found.
Another fateful mistake that tore her life apart.

If she could have seen the future.
Stopped before she started.
They could have been reunited.
Then turned her life around.

Now she is gone.
They waited too long.
Everyone lives in regret.
One single event.
We will never forget.

We Miss You Linda . . .
