Prophecy #36 from the Temple of Delphi
(aka ‘The Prophecy of Pan’)

Once ago there was no sin,
The only rule was ‘as you be’,
The Realms awash in happiness,
Ambrosia and debauchery.

Uncontrolled the spirits flowed,
Man and beast they lived as one,
But resentments grew within the land,
‘Til lava blotted out the sun.

The Lord of Lust had staked his claim,
Built a kingdom where all could lie,
Men of earth and Beasts of fire,
Water Demons, Gods of sky,

One Howling Moon, all were invited,
To seven nights of revelry,
Nothing was beyond the rules,
An orgy of carnality.

The Realms erupted in liberation,
Unbound and freed from Godly hands,
Blazing jets of warmth flew skyward,
Floods and fire claimed the lands.

Others longed for formal order,
Sick of this wanton anarchy,
The Order rose against the rulers,
‘gainst Pan and his fraternity

Pan and Beast Gods, all were captured,
Though wild and sensual was their reign,
Spirited from the four known Realms,
By those who found their acts profane.

Now subsumed by sacred mother,
As my eyes do see it all,
Deep in a twilight world he dwells,
Until the rule of law doth fall.

Beneath the ground, the Seed God slumbers,
Til his mountain prison breaks,
Eternal glory greets his saviors,
Once the Great One’s thirst is slaked.

Sealed, the chamber of twelve columns,
Trapped in unrequited lust,
Until the Beasts are all returned,
Turning solid rock to dust.

Loyal courtesans will seek his freedom,
His bonds will break as passions flow,
And tread the Realms again, he will,
As he walked once, so long ago.
