Putting Down Words

It’s been a while
Since I’ve put down words.
And, in a way,
That’s beautiful.

It means I’ve been
Occupied.
It means I’ve been
Avoiding pain,
Avoiding romantic relationships,
Avoiding the complications
Of sex.

But in another way,
It’s sad;
Downright depressing.

It means I’ve been
Avoiding connections,
Avoiding emotions,
Avoiding the intimacy
Of getting to know someone
New

Have you missed me?
Have you wondered where
I’ve been?
What I’ve been doing?

Don’t worry.
I’m here.
I may disappear for a bit,
But I’ll always come back
to you.
