before going to the hotel on sunset avenue
I buy oranges and carrots
peppers of orange with greens stems
chicken in orange sauce

we walk into the room
where she stands by the window
holding the food
with an unobstructed view
of the setting western sun

I tell her dont look into the setting sun
and she turns her head towards me
and finds me on the bed
with an unobstructed view of her back
and hair upon her shoulders

I tell her dont worry about making orange juice
they will have a continental breakfast in the morning

I light a cigarette for her
with the rooms gas range
the sun is still setting
the orange light lights the room
