Long string lowered slowly into the waxy sweetness of heated honeycomb,
Resisted at first, then restrained, then greedily repeated,
Dipped and layered time after time, enfolded in nature’s secrets—they are soon musk-scented,
Passion’s warmed, cooled, then dipped,
Clinging, and cooling, to heat again and again,
Slowly two, a string and wax, from a honeycomb, form one
Stiff and smooth and tapered, string and honey wax stand knowing
They recognize the image of each other, in the candle, on the stand, in the mirror,
Two souls entwined unbreakable, until a scratch, a spark, a match turns burning bright,
Resist and restrain at long last give way, to a sweet surrender,
Fire ignites, together they glow, heat, melt, and burn together, Steady string burns, slowly wax melts, as passionate fire increases
The warmth of desire, intoxicated craving, no way to slow, so faster and faster the candle handles the wax as it’s dripping
Falling over and over unto one another, bathed in their own light, Then fire flickers, wax whispers a sizzle, and spirits explode to rise,
Curling, swirling wisps, of a ghostly presence dances releasing to the sky above,
As the remains of the wax and the string, puddle together,
Gelling in a semi-molten embrace,
Breathing, thickening, stiffening back into a united one,
Surrendered the wax, surrendered the string,
Surrendering, surrendering,
All resistance
