Crawling at your feet.
I am not a star, you say,
To worship so.
You are right.
I see them in the night sky;
So perfect, shining.
Each one a diamond in the night.
And yet.
You come.
My Rising Sun.
You rise and your eyes drink all the darkness down.
Your smile rapes the night,
And leaves it broken.
You rise,
And a thousand glittering stars are lost,
All darkness with them,
Until all that remains,
Is you.
You are no star.
For your coming banishes them beyond sight.
You are no moon,
For your light warms sustains and burns me.
You are my rising sun,
For while you are in my sky,
I see no other,
And when you pass...
Darkness rules.
The twinkling of those perfect stars,
No comfort.
The shining of the moon,
Pale and cold reminder,
It is not you.
You rise and laugh.
To see me coursing at your feet;
A dog before a goddess.
But you cannot know,
Who has never seen the darkness,
Who can never know a world,
Without the touch,
Of your blessed sun.
