Click hereWe all make mistakes that we regret to this day
Wishing to turn back the clock
And not receive the stinging end of karma's back-handed weight
But instead pray to be forgiven of our selfish, little ego
With time comes maturity
And hopefully a better understanding of our actions
To be self-aware of our transgressions
So that the past does not become the future
And time is a funny thing
Partnered with the way we repent
For if we truly are aware of our surroundings
Just around the corner is a second chance
Like when a girl named Sarah only wanted a friend
But you were too busy trying to impress the other girls at camp
So she calls you fake and immature
While tears of disappointment sting my childish heart
Then later on you meet another girl with the same name
And you realize this is your chance
To be a better person and not care about wanting to impress
And just be a genuine friend to stranger at a camp
It may take years or even decades for this to come
As long as your heart is open
And your eyes are wide
You will have the opportunity to mend that ache in your side
And as I wait for that day
I ask for kindness and to be humble
For pride can leave you blind with a sour taste
And that moment that was given to you will silently slip away
Life is full of mysteries but also possibilities
It is up to us to discover what they are
Within us, around us, and wherever they may be
And just like that, a second chance, will be waiting to set you free
So true.
And a lesson some never learn.
We all do better when we are kind to others, and also, kind to ourselves.
Ah! To be human!
