Click hereThe chill winds ruffle the browning leaves
crinkling on the bough,
and where the children laughed and played
there is that autumnal sense of loss,
which seeps into my very bones.
Can it be that another summer is gone?
Shops already hint at Christmas to come,
and days grow shorter
the nights longer
and colder.
And yet memories of summer linger
and like your kisses, warm my heart
and in your arms I feel, still
the warmth and comfort
which only you can bring.
They say it is a long time
from May to December,
and yet the days pass in a a flash
and I look at my summer dresses
reluctant to put them away.
You liked that skirt, my colour, you said,
and those days when we would hold hands
and love would fill every sense,
and the long summer evenings
allowed time and space for us.
The days grow short in light
but speed by at the same speed
or so it seems,
and only your love warms me
to my very soul.
The winds scatters the leaves now
and the park where the children laughed
is left to the scattered remnants
of the lost and the lonely,
and I shiver, and think of you.
Autumn always brings a sense of longing, may the beautiful memories of summer, and of love, stay with you.
When the sun decreases its daily gift
The winds from the North do blow
Your love never dulls my heart
For the days and nights are ours
Thank you for this, Pixie.
Each new season brings a transition and you beautifully capture the sensory shifts and emotions of autumn’s early days.
To embrace autumn, and our loved ones, is essential preparation for the raw dark winter ahead.
Fall manifests in many ways.
The blossoms fade, but fruit we may enjoy.
A time of bounty, yet a time of loss.
And on the other side of earth, it's spring.
