You've asked me to feel sentimental
For a lifetime of commitment,
For your heart, and
Your caring ear as a friend
When these are things from you
That I've never possessed.
Still, you say them knowing
My arms would have better luck
Grasping the running shadow
Of a noon moon's silhouette.

I want to feel some nostalgia
For all the crimes of affection
We've yet to commit,
But I'm here within an outline of chalk
Face down on wet pavement,
Eyes wide, left frozen,
A blood cold victim
Of your love's paid hit.

I really love the imagery here, as well as the sentiment. I have read your poem several times, and each time, I come away a bit more in awe of the feelings generated. Definitely 5*
