She and I
fated to meet
white sand beach
naked feet,
Lazy mid-week
afternoon
humming some
Buffett tune,

Another country
south of there
hot sun
cheap beer,
Watch a distant
boat float by
a lazy cloud
in the sky,

See each other
half-mile away
each walking
our own way,
Then we each
turn around
get closer to
the ocean sound,

Tide slowing
rolling in
with each step
we begin,
To see details
of each other
inviting things
to discover,

We stop about
five feet apart
each smile
play the part,
Each consider
the potential
of actions
incidental,

How are you
a beautiful day
another beer
what do you say?
The little cabana
sells us two
usual discussion
what do you do?

Small talk
out of the way
both walk off
the same way,
Down the beach
the bungalow
where we, perhaps
were fated to go,

We drink our beer
watch the sun
slowly set
day ‘most done,
No moon tonight
bright stars will shine
which suits us both
just fine,

I make dinner
with things I bought
at the store
not a lot,
I start a fire
in the fogón
close together
all alone,

Slowly kiss
and we feel
each other’s body
mutual zeal,
For the sense
of liberation
after all
we’re on vacation,

Night evolves
as nights do
two new lovers
me and you,
On some beach
far away
tomorrow not just
another day,
