Someday

Someday, I won’t remember you; I won’t remember your name, or how you looked when we first met.

Someday, I won’t remember you; I won’t remember your silly jokes, or the way you made me laugh until I cried.

Someday, I won’t remember you; I won’t remember your voice, or the endless conversations we shared about everything and nothing.

Someday, I won’t remember you; I won’t remember your promises, or the way you broke my heart and made me cry.

Someday, I won’t remember you; I won’t remember that I ever cared, or that I loved you at all.

Someday; but not today.

I rarely read poems and I never post favorites.

You poem broke that pattern.

I expect we have similar thoughts and experiences.

Thank you.
