Darkness covers me, swirling around me like thick smoke, suffocating me and choking me until another piece of me dies.
I close my eyes, tears flowing, silent screams begging for an end to this slow death
Then I hear it....
A soft voice from beyond the shadows....
He calls to me...
I open my eyes, desperate to find him,
A hand reaches out through the darkness beckoning me to take it,
I hesitate but the voice pulls me, giving me reassurance to take it.
I place my hand in his, he gently pulls me to my feet and I feel like he going to pull me out.
Instead, he steps into the darkness....
I look up at him confused and mesmerized,
He holds me close, immediately I can breathe again,
I whisper, why didn't you pull me out?
He takes my head in both hands and says gently,
Babygirl, the darkness will always be there,
But that doesn't mean I'll let you be alone in this darkness. I'll never let you be alone. Your darkness is my darkness. Dry your tears little one. Daddy won't let anything hurt you
