She beckoned the force
That now comes for her,

Scuttling, by opening the seacock,
Downs the boat and scuttles despair.

Sat on the edge of fear
Anticipation kindles her
Amber shadows dance
And bathe supple flesh.

The sea’s silk stops her screams
With its blood stopping deliverance
Breaks her mortal bondage
At her own determined time

The silence of a moonlit night
Brings her a funereal peace.

She, no longer alone,
With him is now home

Notes

Adapted from a longer Nicholai_volchenko poem

"Scuttling" has many meanings - including "deliberately sinking your own boat or ship" and also "thwarting".
