Friend’s wedding
drinking wine
reminiscing
about a time,
Years past
test the water
it was nice
might have been hotter,

Were co-workers
the same director
back when one
was a collector,
Collecting friends
collecting lovers
exploring above
and beneath the covers,

We did too
you and me
not quite parting
the Red Sea,
But good fun
while it lasted
our eggs in
a different basket,

But fate had
a different scheme
closed the office
split the team,
You went east
and I went west
to different lives
and all the rest,

Now twenty years
or more have past
it seems they raced
along too fast,
The wine taste sweet
on my tongue
remember when
we were young,
