That little smile sits inside me
You put it there each day
T'is in the way you look at me
And everything you say.
That little smile, it speaks to me
And tells me that you care
It's safe and warm and wonderful
And altogether rare.
That little smile is radiant
And sits inside my heart.
Its lights the way in front of me
When we are forced to part.
That little smile, helps me to laugh
At raw absurdity
It girds me with an attitude
Of base assurity.
That little smile, it heats my heart
And keeps me safe and warm.
It wards off chill and dark of night
And weathers any storm.
That little smile makes my heart leap
As think of you, I do.
It takes me back to yesteryear,
When our love was just new.
That little smile, it carries me
When I am ebbing low
It picks me up and dusts me off
Banishing any woe
That little smile has slept too long
For me to let this be.
I'll always know who put it there
That little smile in me.
