Long ago
in a place
far far away
a young girl
faced
the trial of her life.

She was assaulted
by four boys
at a Christian summer camp
because
she was Different,
something special
was ripped
from her soul
that terrible day. . . . .

The boys
didn't get away with it-
The Universe saw to that,
as it always does,
and the girl
staggered onward
somehow.

WE all face Trials,
and if we survive them,
our strength increases.

WE must all
take long hard walks
through
The Darkness,
but if we persevere,
eventually
a Light appears
to guide us
through them.

The girl's trials
didn't end
that terrible day;
she survived
Suicide,
Rejection,
Self-Doubt,
Poverty,
et al.

Now,
in her old age,
she looks back
upon
her Fire Times,
and smiles,
knowing
she beat them
ALL,
with style and grace.

So be it.
