You say that one
Is the loneliest number
But I know a sum that’s worse
The love is squared
When one and one make two
But two minus one
Equals me minus you.

And sadder by far
Is the result that occurs
When the loneliness results from a third
The sadness is doubled
When one divides two
But the answer’s the same
As me minus you

So to prove me wrong
You added it up
And the answer was what I expected
The heartache was multiplied
When he took you
And the result was added
To me minus you
