Click hereStopping at times to listen as life goes by,
Feeling the low turn of the train wheels.
Hear the deep horn clear the rail ahead,
As it slowly moves along that empty track.
Winding along rivers and out by the coast,
Miles of train cars being pushed and pulled.
Taking car after carload to their destination,
To the trains final stop far away from its start.
Laying here in bed late into a cool evening,
Listening for that low rumble of freight.
As in many nights the train always rolls by,
Drifting off to sleep riding with that train.
Motion moves slowly over those tracks,
Train rocking as the rail connection pass.
Both a soothing combination of rhythms,
Allow body and mind to relax and drift.
On and on those miles steadily slip on by,
Train motion, rolling wheels and the rail.
Cannot imagine a better way of traveling,
Over rails the side-to-side sway of a train..
I live in Calgary & live close to train tracks. I love the sound of trains passing in the night. I love this poem.
Love this, but I love trains and the slow steady movement through the night .. nice work..
