A leaf rolls forward, chased by a breeze
Tumbling, skittering, dancing past trunks of trees.
Other leaves jump out of the way,
But a few for a time dance and play.
And the breeze, laughing, capers and twists.
Its peals of mirth swirling a mist
That frowns and lays low seeking to hide
Among the grass and the ferns from the suns smiling eye.
But a breeze is capricious and soon swirls away
Leaving the leaf with no-one to play
And there still it lies, sitting under the trees
Waiting to tumble again before a gentle breeze.
