Click hereIn the lounge, Narita, Japan
drinking a glass of wine
two hours to my flight
so just passing time,
In casual conversation
she asked where I was going
told her my destination
without any way of knowing,
She was dressed for casual comfort
the kind one sees in first class
we chatted a little more
like ships in the night pass,
Had no rings on her fingers
in fact, no jewelry at all
could not tell for certain
but she seemed fairly tall,
Our Chardonnay was finished
I asked if she’d like a refill
she smiled, looked my way
said “yes, I think i will,”
Collected two more servings
returned to her side
clicked our glasses together
said “here’s to a lucky ride,”
When the flight was called
we both got up to depart
on the same plane
that was the lucky part,
In the same cabin
steward changed our seating
together for ten more hours
our happenstance meeting,
Watched the same movie
slept side by side
had the same dinner
enjoyed the same ride,
When the Boeing landed
and customs was complete
I wondered, if again
would we ever meet,
One could hope in years to come
we’ll again unite by chance
could hope in years to come
we’ll have a chance to dance,
So I’m waiting for that moment
when I see her on the street
or in some airport lounge
and this story is complete,
