I am the rock
Bare and barren
Stripped of all feature
Open to the elements rage
Clambered over daily
Hewn to make others statues
Slowly worn away by endless friction
Yet still I remain unmoved and eternal.
Once I flowed
Spread Myself endlessly
Grew in fiery magnificence
Destroyer of cities and universally feared
Now I am silent
My anger swallowed deep
Running in rivers hidden and controlled
Burning away endlessly the core of My being.
One more eruption
A daily whispered prayer
To end in glorious destruction
Extinguished in a cacophony of sound
Cleansing in passing
Leaving nil but telltale scar
To start afresh the cyclic journey
That makes legends of giants seem real.
