'1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7...'

Eyes open, wound on my forehead still oozing blood, less than before but not yet fully stopped. I sit there, back against a wall staring up at the sky. She lay a few feet away from me, lifeless and unmoving. The battlefield still and silent as if mourning the loss of beauty this place once held before the war came.

It was early morning and I just sat there looking up at the sky.
