I’m sorry

I was caught off guard
I didn’t know you’d be there
You struck me by surprise

I was looking for you
I was counting down
I felt it in the air
So
I changed my routine
I denied it
I planned around your path
I came minutes after time
but still
You struck me my surprise

The pep in your step
The clean outfit
The fresh skin
You smiled and said hi

I saw you
I saw you out of my peripheral
I saw you in focus
To my left
Moving forward

I said Hey
Without a smile
Without a blink
Without a hint of warmth

I’m sorry
You deserve the warmth of fresh sun rays
You deserve the kindness of the son

I ended it
We didn't fit
It wasn't meant to be

You are a warrior
You are stronger
You shine brighter

May Fate be kind with her bosom
May your path be filled with moss
May your chest be full of clouds
Till you and yours
Celebrate your last breathe
