We have become
couch cuddlers
You sit on my couch and
open your arms to me
I sit next to you
lean on you
rest my head
on your shoulder
Your arm around me
feels safe
and strong
and comforting
It feels like love
We talk
kiss
touch
I tell you
if you were all mine
we would do this every day
I would talk to you and
kiss you and
touch you
all the time
I would tell you
how much I
love you
and how grateful I am
for all you do for me
Your eyes go soft
your smile unusually shy.
You haven’t told me
you love me
in a while you say
I smile.
And hold your face
in my hands.
And kiss you.
Of course I love you I say
I think I always have
Your eyes shift.
Your smile shifts.
You’re suddenly on top of me. Straddling me.
One of your hands
pins my wrists
above my head
to the back of the couch.
Your other hand
roams my body.
Your mouth
and teeth are
everywhere.
And then you kiss me.
So gently.
I love you too you say and
slip away from my body
smirking.
We go back to
sitting on the couch
like a couple
but leaving me
breathless
and wanting
with your arm
around me and
my head resting
on your shoulder.
We relax
watch the fire
check our phones.
I return a text
to my best friend
You text your wife.
They are the same person.
I tell her
I’ll be done with you soon.
We make plans for tomorrow.
I kiss you one more time
and you head back
to her.
The second
you are
out the door
I call her
tell her you’re on the way
and she and I chat
giggle
say we love each other
until you walk in the door.
He’s here she says.
I say go take care of our man.
And I hang up.
And go to bed alone.
And take care of myself.
Until one or both of you
can take care of me
again.
We are so lucky
the three of us
to all have each other
to love.

You make it sound natural, simple, and effortless…

But your others poems shed a different light on your throuple life!

Thank you for this moment of calm.

Some wise people found a triangle is the most stable shape you can have...who am I to disagree?
