A compulsive eater, I
snarf up almonds, apples, art-
ichokes, bread, butter, brie
Käse, cheese, fromage,
parsnips even.

But I strain to pause
at eating berries,
nibble once, let
the sweetness whelm,
breathe the fragrance,
let it fade,
and nibble once again.

That is how I want to kiss you now,
ravenous though I am,
wanting to devour, but knowing still
I won't be sated.
So I nibble, pause, inhale,
and nibble at your lips again.
