Showering in warm sunlight,
a fresh, pungent smell of brine;
muddy garments on the shore,
his golden figure smiling bright.

Cold breeze running through my fingers;
his naked beauty bathing in the sun,
children's feet, taken for a run,
wondering still, how much I would linger.

I put my gun down,
like a soldier seeing a child;
joined him for paradise,
for the rest could now drown.

Scorching sand beneath my feet,
fearful chills along my spine;
timid, shameful, though just in time,
my savior and I, would finally meet.

No more sides, uniforms, war;
only me, and him, and the sea.
Two doves flying off the shore,
in our youth, alas set free.
