Peeking through half open lids
Drowsy smiles
Perfumed dreams
Forgotten then remembered

A leaf caught in angel wisps
Notes of Merlot and sighs
A yawn and cat like stretch
Sun stripes tease it awake

It resists, wanting the cradle,
And lazy Sundays with
Sweaty ice drops
Slow swirls around lime ice tea

A wind’s cheek caress
Arriving from ocean distances
Greetings of cotton kisses
Eyelashes graze skin

Goosebumps release
Eyes flutter open
Catching the silver rays
and faint shadows from tin roofs

And then, the monsoon mist
Pinpricks awaken every pore
Satiation, Gentle strokes
Storied words

Of conquests, of kings, of queens,
And knaves lost to their own ambition
A laugh forms, bubbling slowly
From soot black pots

Rising champagne high
Shrill staccatos landing
On feather pillows
Releasing its bouquet on my breasts

A breath, withheld
