My bedroom window
Faces the street
I’m under covers
Waiting

Every flash of
Passing headlights
Sends my stomach
Spinning

Maybe that’s him
Maybe he’s finally
Here

No, not that car
It cruises by

I settle in bed
Get comfortable
Hoping

Nerves and frustration
Tangled tightly

He knows I hate
Waiting

I think he enjoys
Knowing that I am
Waiting
For him

Anxious
Needy
Craving him

More headlights
The vehicle slows
I hold my breath
Watch it pass

Exhale
A sigh of
… relief?
… despair?

Where is he?
When will he come?

Please
