I'm waiting on the day
When my mind is my friend
Who is keeping up its end
Setting me finally free
Waiting on the day
When I'm not at all scared
When the willingness is there
And soul's in ecstasy
Waiting on the day
When I take that first step
Putting the fears to a rest
Without a mercy plea
Waiting on the day
When my seat's not on the fence
When the verses make sense
And it's poetry
I'm waiting on the day
Free of a second guess
When I'll vibe with myself
Singing soulfully

GoldFreyaabout 1 year agoI like the pacing of your poem alot; it really moves the reader to want to read the next line, and the next. The reader can definitely identify with those feelings of being "in-between/not quite there", waiting ,but also being in the process of identifying how we would like it to change.....
