It sat there on a bush
Over the fence
But just out of reach
The fragrance

Caught her senses
Not strong, over powering
But a subtle sweet tang
She reached up and found her stem
Her fingers shaking as she pulled on the joint
Twisting it until it came away from its bush
A sweet smelling rose for her wife

On emerald hill a rose bush tall

At full bloom a gift to all

Waiting for its beauty to part

A gift for a wife’s love from her heart
