"The female will be at constant threat throughout her young life, but she will be protected by the Chlaerge and by two fierce female warriors with crimson skin. Their lifelong friendship will allow the Light to take her place as the leader of the people, turning those who oppose the Light into those who support her.
"Learn from the sentients with crimson skin and you will be granted status quickly. Ignore them, and the people will fail to take their place within the Greater Community. They will wither and die alone on the planets they live on." The Priestess finished reading. All looked to the High Priestess.
"I saw it, Pemipinae," she explained. "The Chlaerge stood on the heads of the three females. They hissed at the threat advancing on them.
"I saw them stop an angry Asocan child. The Prakesh was there, in the way of this child. The Piscium brood stood their ground and stopped a much stronger, much fiercer threat. The light flared and they put down this threat, a brood of the Asocans. Then they made friends with the Asocan. Now the different broods play together, as if the threat had never been!
"Pemipinae, I was steadfast in my disapproval of your action to even think of reunification. But the Chlaerge have returned and we have all witnessed the Light. Then, the Chlaerge and the Crimson Females protected the Light.
"In front of my eyes, Pemipinae, they turned the threat into a supporter, a friend. They did not realize what they had done. They just did it. I did not realize what had happened, until I read the relevant passages.
"I witnessed prophecy, Pemipinae. The Light HAS returned," Varnela ended her dialogue, clutching tightly to the Pemipinae as she cried on her friend's shoulder. Eventually, she fell into a fitful sleep.
"Find out what she is talking about. What is this incident she witnessed," the Pemipinae demanded of her security team."
First Day of the Second Denders Summit, Denders Resort, South-West Coast of North America, Terra, The Sol System
The Piscium family was up early as the adults were expected in the morning brief. The children were sitting in their highchairs, eagerly eating their morning meals. Senior people from the different delegations began to congregate around the family, moving tables to join them.
"Good morning, Piscium family!" the Asoc greeted the family as she approached the now rather large table.
"Good morning, Asoc, pull up a table, it seems to be what everyone is doing," Junelliya greeted the Asoc.
*Hurl ana, Asoc,* Ikekia greeted her in Asocan, followed by her little sister. The Cats responded as well, calling out a greeting to the larger female.
*You are both doing so much better in Asocan,* the Asoc replied, smiling at the two little ones, as her staff pulled another table to join the growing length of the families at breakfast.
The Pemipinae arrived not long after and bowed formally to the Piscium family, which surprised the three.
"Pemipinae, you need not be so formal with us. This is a kind of vacation," Hanalei informed the Maha-Rrin leader.
"May I speak with you in private for a moment?" the Pemipinae asked. The three adults got up and moved over to an open spot in the cafeteria, away from the others.
"You have once again been involved with prophecy, Atohan," the Pemipinae informed them. Yesterday, our High Priestess witnessed an action where your brood intervened to protect the Prakesh from a potential threat. Their action was recorded in prophecy, which greatly surprised the High Priestess."
"From the way you worded this, I suspect that the High Priestess was rather upset by this discovery?" the Atohan asked.
"You are remarkably astute, Atohan. Yes, the High Priestess suffered from shock at the revelation. More importantly, she has reversed her earlier rejection against the reunification and now completely supports it. All because of the actions of your brood," the Pemipinae stated.
"I see. For us, that is a good outcome of what happened yesterday. I hope that the High Priestess is now over her shock?" Junelliya asked.
"She is indeed," said a new voice. "I am Varnela-Henad, High Priestess of Mada-La-Ail, the name by which we venerate the Goddess.
"Yesterday, I witnessed the actions of your brood against the threat that arose from the Asocan brood. Your brood protected the Prakesh in accordance with the prophecy," the High Priestess advised.
"What exactly does this prophecy state, High Priestess?" Fayad asked.
"The prophecy states 'The female will be at constant threat throughout her young life, but she will be protected by the Chlaerge and by two fierce female warriors with crimson skin. Their lifelong friendship will allow the Light to take her place as the leader of the people, turning those who oppose the Light into those who support her'.
"Your brood stopped the Asocan and then turned her into a friend, as foretold in the prophecy of the return. To us, your skin is red in colour. Crimson. Your brood, and the Kumaraie's brood, will be lifelong friends. The Prakesh will be protected by both until she is ready to take her place as the leader of the people.
"It took me a while to remember the passage and then to find it and read it. However, I am now committed to the reunification of the people," the High Priestess informed them with a bow.
"It is good to see you back on your feet, Varnela," the Pemipinae said with a smile.
"I apologize for my inability to react properly to your questions yesterday, Pemipinae," Varnela replied. "I was a little surprised by all that had happened."
That got a bark of a laugh from the Pemipinae. "You were not the only one surprised. Your statement that you had witnessed prophecy, the prophecy that was read, surprised more than a few of us. By now, the entire Maha-Rrin community here at Denders, is aware of this incident."
"Prophecy or not, the two broods are just that. We would prefer that they be allowed to be brood mates and not venerated at this time. Their future is set for them, we would appreciate it if they could be allowed to enjoy their time as brood," Fayad said sternly.
"So noted, Fayad," the Pemipinae replied, giving Fayad a small bow of her head. "On behalf of all the Maha-Rrin I place my protection on your brood and on the current brood of the Kumaraie. They will not be exposed to the rigours of ruling others until such time as they are ready for it.
"But I must warn you, there will be those who want the prophecy to be fulfilled as early as possible, and those who will vigorously oppose it," the Pemipinae finished.
That got a nod from the three parents.
They all returned to a breakfast table that was considerably longer than when they had left it.
"What's this?" Junelliya asked.
"New fwends," Zarrenia said, smiling at her mother, getting laughter from around the extended tables.
Gold Conference Room, Denders Resort
The first morning brief of the Second Denders Summit was about to start. All of the leaders of the Greater Community were present, as well as their Senior Ministers and staff.
Also included were the adults of the Piscium family, representing the Denders stockholders, Takebayashi Urano, representing the Denders Educare Day Care, A/Mnst. Cecilia Lourdes, the Assistant Minister of Interplanetary Trade representing the UDC and TGA, Juanita Invierno, representing the UDC during the Summit, Cynthia Stewart, representing the media, and Sylvie Triand, the Manager for Interspecies Affairs for Denders Resort.
"Good morning to all," Sylvie Triand greeted the delegates. "For those of you who are here for the first time, the morning briefs will be conducted every morning to inform you of upcoming events for the day. If you cannot personally make the brief, please ensure that there is someone with enough authority to speak for your delegation at each brief.
"I am Sylvie Triand, the Manager for Interspecies Affairs for Denders Resort. It is my responsibility to ensure that this event goes as smoothly as possible over the course of our two weeks here at Denders.
"To assist in this, we have Juanita Invierno, the UDC representative for the Second Denders Summit.
"We also have Hanalei Anar and the members of her family, who are the principle share holders for Denders Resort. She is responsible for the new additions of race specific accommodations blocks that have been constructed since last year. Hanalei and Junelliya were invaluable last year in sorting out problems between the Greater Community, Denders, and the TGA.
"I am familiar with all of your Ambassadors but am not familiar with the more senior people here. If you have any issues that you cannot solve through the Denders staff, please have your aides contact me directly. I gave each of your aides my contact information when you arrived yesterday. If I cannot solve your issues, I can find someone who can.
"The Denders house staff should be able to solve any minor issues relating to the resort, while I will help you with any major issues. Any issues that I cannot solve, you can bring up with Hanalei Anar, Junelliya Herlan, or their mate, Fayad Piscium.
"However, you had better be sure that whatever you bring to them cannot be solved at a lower level as disturbing their vacation will definitely attract their ire," Sylvie said with a smile that got some laughter from around the table from those who were familiar with the Pisciums.
"Any issues for the TGA can be solved through the UDC representative, Juanita Invierno." Here, Sylvie pointed to Juanita who waved to the delegates.
"Resort events of the day; starting this afternoon and continuing each day while we are here, there will be a cultural festival at the resort's theater. This will include musicians, singers, and dancers from the different Terran cultures, one each day. This activity will not be held on the day of the opening of the Johal Compound, which is Friday, the 14th of June, next Friday on our calendar.
"Today, we have singers from the Tadjik region of Western Asia showcasing their cultural songs and dances. Tomorrow we will have representatives from the African Zulu culture. The complete list of events is available on the Denders' website.
"There are a number of locations around the resort that will have small bands playing for your amusement. The resort entertainment staff will be only too happy to teach you such dances as the Denders Wiggle Waggle or the Canard Dance." That got some more laughs around the table.
"Each day, there is a list of shuttles that will depart around 09:00 and return around 16:00 that will visit the different regions of Terra. Again, you can get the list and departure times from the Denders website. Please ensure that you can make it back to the shuttles at the end of the day or you will have to pay for your own shuttle or accommodations in the new locale and they will be lacking in the race specific amenities that you will find at Denders.
"Should you wish to make an overnight stay at a destination site, that can be arranged.
"Many of you are here to conduct high-level Interspecies business. There are several conference rooms available to the delegates to conduct private or open negotiations between the member races. I have ultimate control over these rooms, though Juanita Invierno and Hanalei Anar also have access to the booking schedule. Please note that when a room is booked, it can be booked as private so that other delegates are not aware of who is in that room at that time. Let us know the numbers of delegates that you anticipate needing space and we can allocate the appropriately sized room for you. This worked out quite well last year.
"For the Byandi, the channel islands, some seventeen kilometers from our shore, mark the extent of the area of control that Denders has over the ocean in front of us. This area is called 'Denders Bay'. It is dangerous to go beyond the channel islands as there is active commercial fishing engaged outside of our area of control.
"Swimming beyond the boundary is extremely dangerous. There were three Byandi who did so last year and each of them nearly drowned when they were caught up in fishing nets after ignoring the warning.
"Denders Bay is a large area and more than sufficient for the Byandi to swim and play in. There are plenty of shellfish in the bay that you can enjoy. If you do eat the shellfish raw, please ensure that the spent shells are not left in an area that can lead to people stepping on them. If they can be brought to shore, all the better, as the Harradi staff at Denders likes to use the shells in the Denders farm.
"There are often large marine creatures called 'whales' that come into Denders Bay this time of year. These animals are quite intelligent and the Byandi thoroughly enjoyed their presence in the bay last year. Be cautious when interacting with these animals, some of them can be quite dangerous.
"Speaking of which, ensure to read the material pertaining to the dangerous ocean life and how to avoid them.
"The dining facility has closed out free access to yogurt since the incident last year. No Byandi will be given yogurt unless it is prescribed by their medical specialists through the clinic.
"Speaking of the clinic, the Denders Interspecies Clinic has been expanded with multi-function rooms that can be used by more than one species and some dedicated rooms for specific species such as the Djinaëte, the Feeyan, and the Toolend, who have specific anatomical requirements. Your medical specialists are currently being given a tour of the facilities now and will be ready to receive you once that has been completed. The new facility is centrally located not too far from the theater. All of us who are at Denders are covered by an insurance package that allows for free treatment while here. This was included in the cost of your rooms.
"For the Asocans, the area of swamps in the north end of the resort has been extended, which means you have more area to play in. We have also placed more outdoor showers at the north end of the resort for you to use if you so require. The Asocan accommodations are all in the northern area of the resort to accommodate ease of access to the swamps.
"The Denders Farm to the south of the resort is off limits to all guests. If you wish to see the farm, tours can be arranged with the Denders house staff. Any persons found in the farm without permission will be dealt with by security.
"For the Paacon and the Umick, the beach is hardpacked sand during low tides, twice daily. The tide schedule is on the website. Hard packed sand is excellent for running on. Last year your delegates very much enjoyed the experience. Please be courteous to other member species who might decide to jog on the beach. They cannot run at your pace and we don't need you to intimidate them with your speed." That got another burst of laughter from the group.
"The Johal Compound will be formally opened on the fourteenth of July, one week from yesterday according to our calendars. We will advise you each morning in this brief as we get closer to the specific day. This is the main reason we are all here at this summit. Media will be interested in this event and will seek out representatives from each of the delegations to ask questions.
"As happened last year, the Liramor-23 Media representative, Cynthia Stewart, is the best person to ask about media relations." Sylvie pointed out Cynthia, who was at the back of the room.
"She can be relied on to be discreet and can keep confidences. She also has no agenda of her own, unlike many of the media people currently here at the resort. We have asked the media to give you your vacation time. If you want to ensure that you are not hounded by media, I would suggest that you set up a time for a media scrum for each of your delegations prior to the main event on Friday. We can also indicate that if you are 'in uniform' you can be approached by media, and that if you are not, then we have asked media not to interfere with your leisure time. Uniform would be the trappings of your office. We can post images on the website to give the media a clue as to when to approach the appropriate people.
"When those who control Notre Dame de Paris heard that there would be another Denders Summit, they asked if the delegates would once again attend the evening concert and if the delegates would like to showcase their unique music during the concert. We received a positive response from our request. The concert will be held on the evening of Saturday the fifteenth, the day after the opening of the Johal Compound.
"We will be holding another Interspecies Concert here at the resort on the final weekend of this second summit. We will advise you of the timings as we get closer to the event. Last year's event was held over the entire afternoon and late into the evening of the final day.
"However, too many of you were much the worse for wear the day after and the delegates have asked if we could hold this event one day earlier to encourage recovery time. So the final concert will be held on Saturday, the 22nd of July." That too got some laughter from the group.
"If any of you wish to provide a list of activities of your own in regards to cultural or other activities, please give us a one day notice in order to ensure that you get to make an announcement during the brief. Today will be the exception. If you have any activities that you wish to announce we will allow that going in alphabetical order according to the Standard alphabet at the end of the brief.
"I will now turn this brief over to Juanita Invierno who will give us the day's activity list from the UDC and TGA." Sylvie nodded to Juanita.
"Good morning to all. Today, the A/Mnst. for Interplanetary Trade, Cecilia Lourdes, will be available in Conference Room Alpha starting at 09:00 hrs. Her time can be blocked in half-hour intervals.
"If any other member races of the Greater Community wish to establish themselves in a conference room at any time during the summit, please let myself, Sylvie, or Hanalei know as soon as possible. We only have twelve small, six medium sized, and two large conference rooms available as our third large conference room, the Silver Conference room, is booked for the conference between the Order of Telepaths and the Council of Empaths. We can deconflict the use of the rooms during the morning, afternoon, and evenings, and of course on a day-to-day basis.
"Those of you with wrist comps," here Juanita showed her own comp, wagging her wrist, "can go to the Denders Website to see who is in what room when, for negotiations. Those of you who do not have the comps, check with the other members of your delegation to confirm room allocations.
"The wrist comps are not just for use within Denders Resort. They can connect on any planet with servers dedicated for the comps. That gives you access to the planetary, and interplanetary webs. They also function as comms units, for banking, and have a number of other uses as well. An inexpensive model can be purchased for as little as C150. As with all purchases, the more expensive the unit the more capable it will be.
"The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister Charles Ronter, will be here on Wednesday, the 12th of June to conduct high-level negotiations with those of you who are interested. Please advise me soonest in order to set a schedule with the Minister.
"President Holloway will drop in at irregular times when his schedule allows for it. The President will hold a meet and greet with the Senior members of the Imperial, Royal, and Presidential families of the respective races on Thursday, 13th of June at the Presidential Media Center at the Presidential Compound in the capital. Timings for this event will be announced starting on Tuesday, the 11th of June.
