"Mother?" Alafka gave a surprised look to her mother.

"Really, Alafka. Only a royal order could have allowed Saalaa to train them. You are the only member of the family on Liramor Twenty-Three," Adriné answered. "Corruun, we shall have you test them next year to determine how much they have improved."

Corruun bowed to Adriné then hefted her staff. At 173cm, she was one of the taller Byandi. As the Master Brucomma, her body was well muscled. "I look forward to seeing your strength next year," Corruun said with a smile that caused the children to give out a loud gulp.

The President and the First Lady were next. They got big hugs from the children. "Mr. President, would the Union have sent us away?" Zarreniya asked.

"We might have, Zarreniya. I'm just glad that we didn't have to," the President replied. "However, there is the matter that you saved the lives of twelve people and prevented the injury of many more on Liramor Twenty-Three. I will be requesting that the both of you receive the Medal of Bravery. If it is approved, I will present it to you at Denders this summer. Will that be alright?"

The children were surprised and wide-eyed at the prospect of receiving medals like their parents had. They eagerly nodded their agreement to the President's inquiry.

Elder Shusshhttookkann lowered her great head and allowed the children to hug her. "I have missed your hugs, little ones," she growled, getting giggles from the children.

"This trial had vexed my foresight. The prophecy was a prophecy of a turning point and I could not even tell how it would end. That frightened me," Shusshhttookkann told them.

"I could not even tell who was meant to receive this prophecy," Annnarrrekkk stated.

"It was given to all," Ikekiya told them. "It was warning not to go to trial."

"Go to trial and you give chance to the people who no happy with us," Zarreniya concluded for her sister.

As suddenly contrite and very embarrassed group of prophets looked at each other in shock. This was a thought that had never occurred to any of them. Then Annnarrrekkk started to laugh. Her laughter got harder and more dramatic until, one-by-one, the other prophets joined her.

"It is a very fortunate thing that Tempa-Harn Kai-Rai is as good at her job as she is," Prakeshya commented, the adults nodding their heads in agreement.

A few more of the rulers came to speak with the children, then they pulled the Piscium adults away and the Pod-Drran Kisory and Maha-Rrin children came back.

"Wow! A Kai-Rai!" said one Maha-Rrin female who was still waiting her chance at replacement surgery. She was walking around with the aid of crutches that were really not made for her body. Her leg had been crushed and amputated above the knee.

The children spoke with all the other Maha-Rrin children still waiting surgery. With the numbers of injured that had occurred during the great earth tremor, there was a waiting list of years for the surgery.

Eventually, the excitement died down and the children were retrieved by their parents. The same guard group that had brought them into the Great Hall, guided them back to The Trine, only this time, their Kaldar's were sheathed and they were much more talkative to the family.

"The Kumar-Pair send their regards, Atohan. They will let you know the results from the talks with the Council of Warriors within a few days," the lead guard stated.

"Do you think they have a chance?" Junelliya asked.

"Oh, yes," another guard said with a laugh. "Public opinion is definitely for you're brood, Atohan." That got knowing looks from the other guards.

"That and the fact that all the Pod-Drran had seen the images of their battle on Liramor Twenty-Three and watched in absolute shock as your brood took down that fool Hatta-Torre," another guard commented. "There is little doubt that your brood is worthy of being called Rai and Kai-Rai. The only ones who would oppose it are the hard-core traditionalists and those who oppose the Kumar-Pair out of spite."

"What does a Rai do with a Kaldar they have taken in combat?" Junelliya asked the guards after a brief silence.

"We mount them on a 'Wall of Victory', Atohan," one replied, showing her wall which had several Kaldar, knives, and Ga-Den of those she had defeated mounted on it. They were now at the Trine and the family took its leave of the group of Kumar-Rai.

The children were emotionally tired, so they crawled up into the laps of their respective mothers as the ship prepared to return to Liramor-23. They were fast asleep before they had even left the atmosphere.

L-1894 The Piscium Family Quarters, Lima Deck, Liramor-23

It had been three days since the trial and Junelliya was concerned about the children. Despite having been vindicated in the trial, they were still not back to the way they had been before the incident a little over three weeks ago.

The children did not want to go to the day care and tended to be rather clingy of their mothers, Zarreniya more so than Ikekiya. Zarreniya was now laying on the couch, her head in Junelliya's lap as her mother gently brushed her hair.

Zarreniya was in a half-asleep state when she heard something odd. "Boda-bum, boda-bum, she murmured and then was fully awake, surprise showing on her face. Ikekiya was their in a flash. She touched her momma's stomach while Zarreniya touched her sister. Both of them smiled and squealed in glee.

"I'm going to have a little brother!" Ikekiya shouted.

"I'm going to have a little brother!" Zarreniya too called out. The pair jumped up on the couch each on one side of their momma and kissed her cheek.

"We need to go see aunty Heyya!" Ikekiya said.

"As Harsgarrand?" Zarreniya asked.

"No. We go as family," Ikekiya replied. Both children jumped down and headed to their room. The ladies heard the shower running.

Hanalei came over to Junelliya, a look of surprise and delight on her face. "The Cats didn't make the call?" she said, unsure.

"They normally don't begin Kit calling until after a month or so, it might be a little too early," Vangeliya explained. Both mothers jumped up and ran to their room and quickly got ready to go out.

************

Dr. Heyya was just coming into the reception area of the hospital when the very animated group of ladies came in. The children were skipping along holding Junelliya's hands as the other ladies from the Piscium household chatted excitedly, the Cats were also excitedly bobbing their heads on the shoulders of the adults, jumping from one to another. It had been weeks since Heyya had seen the children acting so normal and the family so happy. They stopped before Heyya.

"Aunty Heyya, we need an HCG test for momma, please," Ikekiya stated with a smile.

That brought immediate action from the nurses station who informed Heyya that examination room three was available. Room three was the largest exam room and could easily accommodate all of the ladies. Heyya led the happy group into the room as one of the nurses brought the appropriate test.

"You know the drill," Heyya told Junelliya, who immediately disappeared into the room's ensuite.

"Kit calling from the Cats?" Heyya asked.

"No. You remember what Zarreniya did with Aurelia?" Hanalei asked.

"Boda-bum, boda-bum?" Heyya asked, getting a nod in return.

"Ikekiya then touched Junelliya and said..."

"I'm going to have a baby brother!" Ikekiya squealed excitedly.

"I'm going to have a baby brother!" Zarreniya replied in turn as the pair held onto each other and jumped around in circle crying out gleefully.

Junelliya came back out and they all waited anxiously for the results which showed...

"Congratulations," Heyya said after showing the results to the ladies. "Now, if you wouldn't mind, I need you to get up on the examination table."

"Why is that? We didn't need the scanner last time," Hanalei asked.

"Well it was what the children said," Heyya announced, pointing to Ikekiya who called out "I'm going to have a baby brother!" Heyya then pointed to Zarreniya, who said the same thing.

Junelliya got up on the table and Heyya moved the more sensitive medical scanner over her stomach and set it up to look for what she was expecting. She found it.

She expanded the image and showed it to the ladies.

"TWINS!!" They all shouted.

"Why are you so surprised?" Heyya asked with a smile. "Didn't the children each say they were going to have a baby brother?"

Understanding bloomed on the faces of the two mothers who hugged their daughters fiercely. "Oh, daddy will be surprised," Zarreniya quipped getting laughter from all.

Central Control, Delta Deck, Liramor-23, The Piscium System

An excited group of ladies trapsed into the Control Center shushing each other to reign in the noise they were making. Fayad spun his command chair around on hearing the intrusion and was surprised to see it was his family and the house staff who were making all the noise. The Cats flew over to him and bounced excitedly on his shoulder. His two wives came over and gave him gentle kisses on his cheek, to 'Ooh's and Awes' from the crew in Central Control. Hanalei whispered in his ear before kissing him tenderly. A moment later, what she said finally registered in Fayad's brain.

"TWINS!!" he called out in surprise.

"Yep. We going to have baby brothers," Zarreniya happily called out. The on-duty crew burst out in applause and shouts of 'congratulations' just as Fiona and Julliana came into Central Control.

"What's going on?" Fiona asked.

"Aunty Fiona! We going to have baby brothers!" Zarreniya cried out as she ran to hug Fiona's knees.

Fiona looked at Hanalei who pointed her finger to Junelliya. Junelliya gave a smile and a nod of her head in response to Fiona's look of inquiry, lifting two fingers with a smile.

"Well, congratulations you three, but don't we normally announce this after the ten-week exam?" Fiona wanted to know.

"Ikekia declared she would have baby brothers, so it is official," Junelliya let out a laugh.

Fiona knelt down and hugged Ikekiya. "Yes," she claimed, "If Ikekiya says so, then it will be. Welcome back children."

The girls hugged her hard as the Cats landed on the trio and purred at the children's pleasure.

The Offices of the Council of Empaths, Scherm's City, Hollander's World, The Sullivan System, Sixty Light Years from Terra

GME specialist Kriss Klassen stepped into the office of Councillor Petronellaya on the invitation of her secretary and greeted Petronellaya and Councillor Elliya.

"Good morning, Krissiya. Thank you for coming on such short notice," Petronellaya began as her secretary brought tea for the three. They moved to a cozy set of chairs to the right of her desk.

"I have a special assignment for you that is right up your alley," Petronellaya began as they sipped their tea. "As you know, we had anticipated sending you to Liramor Twenty-Three to work in the daycare there with the newly emergent empaths of the other races, particularly the Asocans. However, that was not going to happen before the summer, if not later."

Kriss nodded to the pair of Councillors. The Liramor-23 Mining Platform was shortly going to be changed into a deep space station dedicated to the politics of the Interspecies Community. The daycare/school on the platform for the young of the Greater Community on the station included many empaths/telepaths from the various species. Both Clarrisiya and Aylliya, who Kriss knew personally, worked at this daycare helping newly emergent empaths from all races. Kriss was itching to do the same. It would be an incredible experience for her.

"There is a family with two young girls in need of your special support," Petronellaya continued. "The children have not only manifested their powers but have surprisingly mastered them to some degree. Your special skills would assist them.

"The children of the family you will be working for go to this daycare/school and you will be able to assist your contemporaries in that establishment. Your pay will be bolstered when you work at the daycare, meaning you will be paid twice for your work on Liramor Twenty-Three.

"Your primary duty will be to act as the nanny to these two girls. Your secondary duty will be to protect the two children, who have gotten themselves involved in some very dangerous situations of late. The family is connected with the ruling families of the Greater Community. This makes them a political target," Petronellaya explained.

"You must be talking about the Piscium family?" Kriss more stated than asked.

"I am. You will be working for a family like no other. They are targets for any and all the idiots out their who do not want Humans involved in the Greater Community and not only Humans think this way. There are members of the other races who want their own species to secede from the Greater Community.

"To conclude, your primary role with the family is to help the emergent children learn to use their power and help the parents control them in that use as they must conform to the Council of Empath's edicts. You will also be assisting the parents and Takebayashi Urano, the owner of the daycare/school, in educating the children.

"Your secondary role is as bodyguard to the children. As you will be the nanny, that means you will be with them the most. You will have help in your secondary role as GME Violletiya is Hanalei's bodyguard. But Violletiya follows Hanalei, not the children.

"Your tertiary role will be to assist the daycare/school with the other emergent children whenever you are at the daycare. The children will be at the daycare most days so that means you will be assisting Aylliya and Clarrisiya most days and drawing a secondary pay for working at the daycare," Petronellaya ended.

"Does Violletiya not guard Junelliya and Fayad?" Kriss asked. That brought a laugh from both Councillors.

"Junelliya does not need a bodyguard. Nor does Fayad. He was awarded the title Dragon by the Asoc for his aide in helping her retake her throne from Belgedra. He is also a Sai-Ro, a title from the Pod-Drran given to him when he personally defeated several experienced warriors of the Pod-Drran during a coup against the Kumar-Pair.

"You will be working with other bodyguards on the station," Elliya informed her. "They get together most mornings to learn and practice under the tutelage of Kim Oshiiru and Lieutenant of Marines Ululla Mbibo. You will find working with them the hardest thing that you have ever done, however, you will have no choice but to persevere as the family trains closely with them, including the children. If they can handle the pace, you will have to."

Kriss didn't like the smile that Elliya was giving her at that moment. The pair gave her the relevant files and showed her to an office not far away. She quickly ran through the vids and documents getting more flustered over each new piece of information she took in.

Damn, this is one hell of a family, she thought to herself.

She finished up her review and went back to Petronellaya's office.

"Thoughts?" the Councillor asked.

"Wow! Why me?" Kriss asked.

"You have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, a 4th Dan Black Belt, and you are part of our special group of GME's for the young. This family is tailor made for you," Petronellaya stated.

"There is one other consideration," Elliya chimed in. "You took Music Appreciation at university as part of you Early Childhood Education package. This family is musical inclined, so you will fit right in with them."

Just then the secretary poked her head in and advised them that Planetary Control had just given PV The Trine permission to set down at the nearby shuttle port. "They will be here in approximately twenty-five minutes." She advised them.

"Can you make up some hot water for tea and make conference room one a little cozier for our meeting?" Elliya asked getting a nod from the secretary.

Petronellaya got a call from Hanalei. "Hi, Hanalei. We heard you were on your way down," she answered the call. "Can you bring some of your tea with you? Our selection is not the best," she explained with a smile.

That got a laugh from Hanalei who assured them they would bring their collection with them.

Thirty minutes later, the family walked into conference room one as the Councillors and Kriss rose to greet them. Fayad, Junelliya, and Hanalei were in front of two others that Kriss recognized as Violletiya and Sylvie Kinlo, Hanalei's PA.

Kriss noticed the two daughters holding the hands of their respective mothers. They seem to be a little hesitant to enter as they looked carefully at the two Councillors.

"It's alright, children," Elliya told them. "You have been punished enough. Come in and say hello."

Before the children could do so, three Cats suddenly launched themselves into the air and glided over to the two Councillors, landing on their shoulders and greeting them as long-lost friends.

"Hello you three. It has been a while," Elliya said as they rubbed their heads against her.

The family moved further into the room and the children gave shy smiles to Kriss.

"Children, this is Kriss Klasson, also known as Krissiya. She is a specialist like Clarrisiya and Aylliya," Elliya explained.

Kriss went down on one knee and sent a tendril of power to the adults mostly to check on just how powerful Junelliya actually was, however, she was surprised when the children responded and returned a tendril of their own. They were not that strong but that two children, not yet two years of age could actively use their empathic power shocked Kriss even after having read about it earlier.

Then Junelliya sent back a tendril of her power and Kriss almost fell over, her chin sinking into her chest. She had never felt this level of power from a single individual before.

Zarreniya suddenly ran over and lifted Kriss' chin. "You catch flies," she said with a silly grin, then ran back to her mother. That got laughter from all of the other adults, and giggles from her sister Ikekiya.

"You've been waiting to do that, haven't you?" her father asked her, a twinkle in his eyes.

"Yep, you mommy, and momma get to do that to all our friends," Zarreniya smiled. Kriss let out a giggle at the mischievous little girl.

"Hello, children. I'm Kriss and I hope to be your new nanny," Kriss explained. "I am a specialist with young empaths and I also have a Black Belt so can help to protect you.

The children looked at each other then came forward. They pulled collapsible metal rods from behind their backs, snapped them open, and then attacked Kriss. The force of their strikes was not exceptional but they were hitting her with metal rods. They hurt!

Her arms stinging from the previous strikes, Kriss deflected the attacks instead of blocking them and pushed the two away from her. They redoubled their efforts and came back at her again. This time, instead of deflecting their strikes, Kriss captured the two and tickled them getting shrieks of laughter from the pair.

After a moment, she relented and looked at one of the rods. Ikekiya picked up the other and showed her how to collapse it then slipped it behind her.

"These are pretty interesting," Kriss commented.

"Show her the staffs, children," Violletiya suggested.

The children reached down to closed pockets on their thighs and pulled out something metallic that suddenly snapped into rods about one of their arms length taller than they were. They began to twirl and move the staffs around their bodies and make precision moves that showed they had studied hard and were proficient with the weapons.

Zarreniya came foreword and showed Kriss how she collapsed and extended her staff. She then put it back in its pocket. Kriss was impressed and said so.
