As I began to step away, I heard something that caused my heart to stop.
"Yo, hold up guys. I'm just gonna grab some Dorritos outta the vending machine."
I should have just taken off at that point. However, something caused me to stop and turn to see one of the guys round the corner. He had begun to lift his beer to take another swig but stopped when his eyes fell upon me. For the briefest of moments, we were both frozen in each other's gaze.
What was going to happen now?
