"I'll meet you in the ready room."

"I'm already there."

I walked into the room and looked at my daughter's face. It was tear stained, drawn, and ashen.

"It looks like your feeling sick?"

"I realized something when I was talking with Sandra that made me sick to my stomach. I have been like my father for more than 15 years, and I never realized it. As much as I tried to be like my mother, I am a mirror image of him. I act like him. I talk like him. I treat people like him. I don't know how Gray has put up with me all these years.

Please give me a new room. I don't want to poison my children any more than I already have. Please give Gray a divorce, so he him can have a better life with someone new. He deserves it, because he is truly a wonderful person. How I didn't cut that part out of him, I don't know, but he is truly a marvelous man. He deserves a woman or wife who is much better than I ever was to him.

Give me a menial job somewhere on a shift opposite his. I can't possibly work on the bridge with the way my mind is."

"What about the babies?"

"They are Gray's babies. He is a wonderful father, and he will make arrangements for them while he's working."

"What if he decides to give them away?"

"He will do what's best for the babies. He will make that decision with his heart."

"Are you going to Africa to teach engineering, or water painting?"

"I believe going to Africa is a little out of the question. I may ask to get off in the middle of the White Hole so I can charge a fee for objects going through each way."

"That is an excellent moneymaking idea. I thought you said your mind wasn't working well."

"Think about it dad; at the speeds those things are going, who's going to stop to pay a toll?"

"Very logical, very logical indeed. The room just past Monty's is available. They took all the turkey food out of there, and it's been cleaned. You can use it for now.

You are now part of Adam Schiff's plumbing team, until your stomach pops out. You will never see Gray if you stay on the fifth floor, unless he is exercising.

You are several weeks behind Adams' training program, so you will have to learn very quickly. Give him a call as soon as you're settled in your room."

"Thank you for not reading me the riot act. Tonight, talking with Sandra, was as big a revelation to me as I've ever had. I am ashamed of myself. I am ashamed of what I am, and I am ashamed of what I was. More than that, I am amazed people put up with me. Was it because I was so smart? I don't know. Gordon is smart, smarter than I am, and he never acted like I do him. Did you see it? Did you see it and let it go because I'm your daughter? How could it have gone this far without someone having horse whipped me. Did everyone always say, "Let her go, she is the boss's daughter. Why dad, why didn't I know sooner, why didn't anyone say something to me? Were they so afraid of me? Was I so volatile they thought I would explode before their very eyes?"

"I saw it. I told you about it. I warned you about it. I kicked you out of my house because of it. I kicked you out of work, because of it. Gray kicked you out of your apartment, because of it. You argued in front of everyone at work, because of it. Over nine years, as we built this marvelous machine, you were warned repeatedly about your behavior. Finally, you went to see a psychiatrist, but it was much too little, too late, and too infrequent. You should have been hospitalized, and been in intensive therapy for months, or years, to get this out of your system, but you wouldn't hear of it. Getting you to go regularly for therapy was like cutting off a leg. Do you want to know why all this happened to you so suddenly, and it is such a huge surprise?

LOOK IN YOUR MIRROR, AND SAY HELLO TO THE PERSON LOOKING BACK AT YOU! SHE'S BEEN HIDING IT FROM YOU ALL THESE YEARS.

Your Minute is up."

I'm really enjoying this story but it's very off putting that the ages and timescales are way off. Newton shouldn't be a teenager yet. He was not 12 when Teddy was born. He was 5 or 6. Suddenly deliciousis 33. When she was 17, Gordon was 4 but... now Gordon is 17 and there is a 16 year age gap instead of 12 or 13.

Also the times that the project took to bud keep changing.

If ever you get the opportunity to publish this in print, it would be awesome either a good editor

Really enjoyable read but how you setup command would just breed infighting and resentment even even with his 0roblems is the better commander letting Newton dismantle the probes without discussing it with him is wrong as even they admit they haven't thought of what he has, allowing Joe and Hannah to sedate him like that no matter what way you look at it would be counted as assault and as for delicious grey is just as much to blame as her he knows her behaviour and could act accordingly instead of antagonising her.

Very Interesting Chapter...

I, too, am retired and can take as much time as I need to read each and every chapter. I took The Evelyn Wood Speed Reading course when I was in what is now known as Middle School and I use it when I have to peruse a technical manual or something else that is very dry or uninteresting. When I read for pleasure, however, I take my time and savor every word and punctuation mark. So what that it is almost 4:00 in the morning?

Marriage can be a wonderful thing. My wife and I have been together for 31 years. There have been some trying times in our relationship but we have managed to keep it together and make it work. The two most important things in any serious relationship are trust and compromise. Trust is pretty much self-evident. But it is in compromising when you really learn how much you care for someone else. You have to decide how much you are willing to give up to receive what you need in return, and not everybody is willing to risk such a sacrifice (look at Delicious!). Life is never easy, but it can be wonderful with a bit of effort. But enough preaching...

I hope things work out between Delicious and Grey. Teddy is trying her hardest to help her Mommy change her ways but Delicious has to want to make the effort. People are never too old to change and I am pulling for her.

I am wondering how many other systems might still be sabotaged onboard the ship and Callie not know about them. Things are starting to get a bit scary for our cast of characters and I find myself sitting on the edge of my chair hoping that everyone comes out it in one piece. I hope the people at the NSA (and those members of government that are also involved) get their comeuppance. I hate it when people with power and/or money abuse the responsibilities they have toward their fellow human beings. Is it so important that they be right, in the end, no matter what the cost? *Sigh!*

Anyway, thank you, Bob, for another fine chapter. I am already looking forward to the next one. 'Bye, for now.

Roger.
