Her logic makes no sense. Why would she not tell him of her plan? As it was, the plan was to tell her husband she was going out to dinner with a co-worker. If, as she seemed to believe, he would acquiesce and let her go, then dinner would have ended and she would have been home at a reasonable hour. As it happened, he provided Intel that the guy was a pussy hound and made it clear of the consequences. Even then she did not reveal her "blue balls" plan. Seriously? She went anyway and came home at almost 4AM???? She didn't expect him to hire a PI to collaborate that she did not fuck him so she expected he'd believe her that nothing happened in the 6+ hours after dinner.

I trust my wife explicitly but that would certainly test the bounds of that trust - in fact it would probably break it completely, especially if she claimed that he was a "perfect gentleman" and knew the guy was a suspected drug rapist.

I generally like your stories but you should have thought this one through a bit before hitting send.

News flash for the naysayers, it’s just like a JPB hubby to not give a damn about the wife, since he got to beat the crap out of her partner AND he got the fishing boat (Plus steaks at Duke’s and tons of make up nooky). I very much enjoyed the husband’s beating, but he was much too forgiving of Darlene. Married women don’t go on dates with other men for any reason, and they especially don’t make out with them for 25;minutes. Her story just doesn’t hold up to close scrutiny. But that’s JPB for you.

So what exactly were the consequences??? All I read was someone who got mad and beat up a guy when the wife was the one who needed to be punished regardless of her true intentions. Not saying he should've btb but she didn't trust him to tell her. Then the make out session was the icing on the cake and should've just left. He forewarned her and she lied and did not listen which doesn't sound like a LW or past the test

I agree JPB with other comments. This story was me of your better ones. I like stories where there are more consequences and have more drama but this one was short and to the point.

The story was interesting and had any BTB reader waiting to see how you were going to end the debacle . If Darlene wanted to get the better of an office Casanova there were better tactics to use. The first part of her plan should have included filling Bill in on the intended outcome. Still going out with John after Bill’s confrontation in the office was sheer stupidity on Dar’s part and by John. They knew the air had a bad stench and the only thing left was to turn on the fan.

The story was well written but had a couple of missing words or typo errors. Think of me as an old proof reader from the era before work processing when you gave a hand written original to the admin specialist and proof read the first draft for comprehension and errors. Before the final report went up the ladder to the boss a missing word or a flying finger mistake needed to be corrected to keep a smile on managements face.

Why is the husband almost always the winner in these physical confrontations? There is no indication that Bill is a trained fighter or a really fit individual or that John was not able to fight back. It would have added realism if John was able to give almost as well as he received.

I generally like what you do. That said, I have some observations to share. 1. Too many of your tales contain the phrase, "It won't hurt us." You might think it's part of your style but I see it as a crutch in the story telling, as it's seemingly always that a woman is justifying her actions. It gets overly repetitive over time. 2. I like the Village Inn references. I see it as a signpost of your fictional universe. If Pauline French had been the waitress, that would be a cool meta moment. Anyway, overall, I enjoyed and want to read your next tale.

This story’s ending made no sense. The story made clear the husband was no cuckhold want-to-be. He was rightly angry at her disrespect and plan to date another man. She ignored his feeling, went out on her date and lied to him, saying nothing happened. While she didn’t have sex, she did make out with him. So after all that, he forgave her?

If so, then he just agreed to an open marriage. In future, apparently she can go out on dates without his consent and make out with other men and we are supposed to believe he would be okay with this? One, you must have meant AM because the characters were up and busy the next day before 3 PM, so a plot-hole-size typo.

Second, 3:49 AM is so late that NO ONE, I mean NO ONE, would believe that slut-wifey did not have sex with the dude, especially if there were no PIs involved. Basically, ONLY the PIs that the husband hired saved her "I did not cheat" story, which showed how BAD HER PLAN WAS.
