Sarah, who was dressed in a red silk mid-calf creation (and yes, there are some redheads who are so beautiful that they can get away with dressing in red!), was also having a wonderful time. She was worried that she might feel out of place; but in fact she knew a number of people at the dinner from Bistro Parisian, who all came by and spent time talking with her.

Mark and Tony, of course were dressed in tuxedos, which Sarah thought made them both so handsome. When she told them, Mark smiled, showing his dimples. Tony actually winked at her, but then he looked over at his wife, Fabiola, who gave him a mild 'stink eye', which Mark whispered in her ear, meant 'I kill or maim you later.' Tony shrugged his shoulders, as he and Fabiola walked off together arm-in-arm, laughing.

Finally the announcement was made to please take your seats. At his special reserved table, Mark sat with Luci in the chair to his left, and Sarah in the place of honor to his right. Tony and his wife Fabiola, and several other friends filled out the remaining places.

After everyone had found his or her seats, Mark started the show, tapping his spoon on a glass until he had everyone's attention.

"My dear friends and colleagues; I want to thank you all for joining us tonight to celebrate our first Valentines Day at Trattoria Veni Vidi. I cannot tell you how much I've appreciated your encouragement and support over the years, and this is my way of saying 'Thank you' to all of you." Then he raised his glass of Prosecco and toasted his guests.

As Mark sat, Tony stood up before the room could get noisy again.

"Ladies, an'a Gentlemen; I would'a like to propose another'a toast as'a well'a: To my'a boss, Chef Marko, an'a to his'a ex'a girlfrien', Sarah, who'a now is'a d' new again girlfrien'," and with that he raised his glass, "To Amore!"

And the restaurant filled with the sound, as the guests repeated the toast:

"To Amore!"

Would it surprise anyone to find out that they lived happily ever after?

I've read this more than a few times, and it's always a great read.

The snake in the grass that gets in the wife/gf's ears and she is, as they always are, blind to the obvious bullshit they feed them. Honestly if I were a woman I'd be somewhat offended at how easy women are made to seem to gullible and converted into sluts (most stories that have the serpent end up like that) with some bullshit lines and obvious seduction approaches. Pretty sad really. I wonder how long until Sarah falls victim to the next one. If a woman can fall for it once, they can certainly fall for it again, if the circumstances are right.

Evidently those degrees don't count for shit when it comes to seeing the obvious ploys of womanizing assholes. Too bad. There should be mandatory classes on Spotting Bullshitters. And if she can't put 2 and 2 together to equate Mark Flore to the obviously similar Italian version of it, I begin to wonder if she's intelligent at all. There was also that moment where she saw Mark and Luci and instead of talking to him asking what's going on - like a normal person would - she makes an assumption, overreacts and does a runner.

Very nice fairy tale

Fairy tales have their own realities so I will not raise any real life scenario issue about the story

A beautiful, gentle story. Thank you.

It was like being carried along by a gentle river current.

On the other hand, you almost killed me by serving pizza as a special at an upscale restaurant.

I'm not in any way denigrating pizza, which I love, and some of it is simply fabulous, but not in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Still a great story on the third read! And no, I didn’t find your version of Italian accented English offensive. I’m half Italian myself and I remember my grandmother talking something like that. Well done!

Lovely story. Though I agree with Mark's self examination that he had made a mistake. Yes their relationship had been rocky the last 2 months the due to undue outside influence from Philip on Sarah, but they have a fight and instead of even remotely following up afterwards, after having cut off the argument that night and going to sleep, he up and stealthily moves out their apartment where they had cohabited for 18 months. Worse he knows Sarah saw him with Luci and would probably have the wrong idea if why they broke up. He could have easily reached out to her but did a clean break. So yeah Sarah was being a nag and somewhat condescending, not realizing how different the training and schooling for the culinary arts form her world. Indeed, "Gordon Blues" (hehe) shows she doesn't know anything about cooking, And yes she said something pretty nasty while somewhat drunk that night of the fight. But instead of having a sober discussion (or argument) the next day, he just walks out after 18 months. It is his prerogative, they are only dating, but that was the cowardly way out just cleaing his stuff out and leaving. Also what relationship do they have where he keeps secret his opening a new restaurant for the same couple of months that Sarah has been nagging him. And again he doesn't set the record straight regarding Luci thatbdyabornthe next when Sarah overhears their meeting. I am glad they worked it out and Sarah was being gaslighted by Philip about her relationship with Mark and his career, never a good thing, but we as the reader know that after she realized what she did in that fight, the next day at work she set the record straight with Philip. But when she gets home, Mark has already fled. So yeah both made mistakes. All's well that ends well though. The Simonetta / Botticelli story elements were quite creative. Salud!

Great story great plot and character development. An excellent live story that rings true. No problem with Tony’s accent

She has a Liberal Arts education and has no idea what "Gordon Blues" cooking school is. He is nearly destroyed by her total disrespect and proceeds to prepare a gourmet meal for her. SMH

Fantastic!!

With one flaw,.. when she was searching for him, nobody at the Bistro knew where he went. Yet, at the party, many (customers - staff) followed him loyally to HIS restaurant.

That's a plot flaw.
