Scowling, I shoved him away. "Damn it Chris, you can't just waltz back into my life like this. It isn't fair." At the crestfallen look on his face I hesitated, and then sighed. "I'll think about it, okay? That's the best I can give you right now. Just give me some time."
He kissed me again, oh so gently. "As much as you need beautiful. I love you Kate." I squeezed my eyes shut and didn't open them again until I knew he was gone. Wrapping myself around a pillow, I allowed a smile. I'd forgive him. He was the only man I'd ever loved after all. But not yet. I'd let him stew for a while first.
