Chapter 3: Soft and Gorgeous

As Holly saw her first full look at Sam, she couldn't help but feel impressed, and maybe even a little jealous of her best friend's new fling. She gave Jane a quick look of approval, trying to be subtle in her own way. Everyone in the room had caught it, though. Jane felt embarrassed, but Sam felt a little proud of himself.

I guess I double-booked myself, Jane thought.

A slight awkwardness had built in the room which Sam decided to break.

"So, where are we headed?"

"This cute little place up by the campus! They're known for their delicious juices." Holly replied.

"Lead the way, Holly." Jane said.

They all made their way to the restaurant.

It had warmed up some since Sam had been out earlier, and they all decided to sit outside. Sam sat next to Jane on the side across from Holly. The air was crisp and Sam felt good.

Though she was on the verge of a sour mood, Jane too was glad they'd gotten out of the apartment and into the fresh air. She felt somehow that these next few days would always be important to her and she wanted to hold onto that feeling.

Sam started making conversation as the waitress brought out their menus.

"So, I heard you also go to Columbia." He said to Holly.

"Yeah, I do! I transferred in from a different place."

"Why'd you leave?" He paused, realizing he might have broached a sensitive topic. "If you don't mind my asking?"

"Haha I don't mind. It was a shithole, plain and simple. That place wasn't going to take me anywhere, so I left. Besides, who doesn't want to be in New York fucking city!" She said, gesturing to the streets around them.

"Well, the other place wasn't fruitless, right? Isn't that where you met Jeremy?" Jane interjected.

"True, not a total lost cause." She chuckled and looked at Sam. "Jeremy is my current boyf. He moved up to New York too, but he snagged himself an internship rather than continue with school."

"Lucky him." Sam said.

"Yeah, well, he was never much good at school anyway." Holly said, stifling her laughter.

The waitress finally came to the table and asked for their orders. Sam and Holly hadn't had time to look at the menus. Scanning the three of them for some kind of decision, Jane made the move to order herself some french toast, feeling in the mood for breakfast in the afternoon.

Sam and Holly meanwhile tried to scan the menu for anything they'd eat, not wishing to hold up their waitress.

Holly found something first, ordering a Reuben.

Unable to decide, Sam left the decision to the waitress herself.

"What would you recommend?" He asked?

"Well, the huevos rancheros are delicious with some orange and carrot juice." She said, putting on a positive affect despite her apparent tiredness.

"That sounds great! I'll have that."

She wrote their orders down and left the table.

"Didn't have time to look at the menu." Sam laughed nervously.

"That seems to be a habit of yours." Jane added with a chuckle.

"It's funny." Holly said, returning to their previous conversation. "I've never seen you around campus."

"Big school." Sam said. "And I don't suppose you hang out with us music production folks."

"I didn't even know we had that as a major!" She laughed.

Though the mood was jovial, Sam couldn't help but wonder if he wasn't somehow under interrogation. Sam could tell that Jane was slightly uncomfortable with this attention on him. They'd barely known each other and it already felt like they were in a more serious relationship and he was "meeting the parents." It was even stranger because though they'd spent quality time together, a lot of that time was spent having sex. For the first time since they'd gone to the record store, Jane seriously contemplated how little she knew about him.

Their food arrived at the table and broke the oncoming silence. Sam's food looked excellent and he was glad he'd abdicated his decision-making to the waitress.

When she handed him the juice, he became confused, however. He looked at it like it was an alien object. He didn't have time to say anything before the waitress left the table.

"You okay, Sam?" Jane asked with some concern.

"Yeah, yeah, I think so. Just, I feel like I didn't order this?"

"You did." Jane said, now even more concerned. "She said it would come with juice."

"Oh, shit. I feel like a dumbass. I thought juice meant smoothie and I got excited and this is just orange juice and..." Sam felt himself slinking into a pit.

Jane tried to stifle a laugh but it burst out anyway. Sam's weirdness put her in a good mood for some reason.

Sam felt awkward but joined in with his own laughter.

For the first time Holly felt out of her depth in what had just happened, but she could sense why Jane had immediately taken to Sam.

They started eating their food and talking again.

"If you're in music production, you could help Jane with her band, right?" Holly asked.

"You know, we started talking about that, yeah." Jane said with a smile. "Sam over here has quite good taste in music. I've known him for like two days and he's already showed me two of my new favorite albums."

Sam felt a spike of pride. "I'd be lucky to work on her music. She's really good."

"Oh come on, stop it, you've heard one song." Jane said, worried he was just stroking her ego.

"I'm serious. I've heard a lot of shitty music and I've met a lot of shitty musicians in my time. You're not one of them. Listening to that song, I could tell it was just the tip of the iceberg." He gave a sincere smile but made sure not to overdo it. He'd meant what he said. "And besides, it's been stuck in my head all day."

Jane felt deeply, almost uncomfortably flattered. She gave him a glance and he returned her look with a dumb, innocent smile.

Fuck, he's too cute, she thought.

As a sign of affection she reached her hand over to his thigh and let it rest there gently. At that moment he remembered that he'd been wearing panties. He had forgotten until her hand had triggered a slight rush of blood to his penis, now feeling the restraints of the garment.

Holly feigned a cough to get their attention. She didn't mind the displays of affection, god knows she'd been guilty of that with Jeremy, but she didn't love being such a third wheel.

"So, what are your plans after college?"

"Holly!" Jane scolded her friend.

"What? I'm curious."

"No worries." Sam laughed. "To be honest, I've been trying not to think about it too hard. It'd be sick to get some kind of studio job, maybe work at Electric Ladyland or something."

"Isn't that the studio Jimi Hendrix founded?" Jane asked.

"Yeah, that's the one. It's right downtown." He said.

"That'd be sick." Holly said.

"Yeah, but it's just a fever dream right now."

"Isn't everything?" Holly said, somewhat mocking him.

"Not everything." He replied, giving Jane a smile.

"Well, you two make a whole lot of sense to me now." Holly laughed.

They finished up their meals and settled the bill.

"Where to next?" Holly asked.

Neither Sam nor Jane had thought that far ahead.

Deciding she didn't want to overdo it, Jane made a decision for them.

"I think Holly and I should head back to our place and you should head back, Sam."

"Sounds good to me!" He said, happy he didn't have to decide.

They stood in front of the restaurant, ready to part ways. Sam stood next to Jane and wasn't sure if he should give Jane a kiss before they left.

Feeling emboldened, he drew her close. Though this was not an unwelcome gesture, Jane was ill-prepared and what Sam had intended as a tender kiss was chaste and awkward. Still, she found herself appreciating the gesture. This surprised her, as she'd never felt the need for such sentimentality, especially on what could be considered their second date.

"Text me later?" Sam said, trying to play off the kiss.

"Of course." She smiled and turned away from him.

Sam knew that his home was in the same direction that Holly and Jane were walking, but he decided to stay back to go for a walk to avoid that awkwardness.

Besides, he thought, there was still sunshine to bask in.

When Holly felt that she and Jane were out of his earshot she burst out laughing.

"He's so fucking awkward." Holly said lightly.

"That he is." Jane smiled at the thought of it.

"Not your usual type, but maybe that's a good thing." Holly said with a serious tone. She let a silence fill the space for a moment, then smiled. "I like him."

"Me too." Jane smiled deeply.

--

Some time passed before Same and Jane would see each other in person again. They texted back and forth regularly, filling in gaps in their knowledge of each other and sharing good music and funny pictures.

Jane took that time to write more tracks for her album. She was the kind of person who usually tried and failed to not draw from her own life when writing. She didn't hold the pretension that she had any kind of unique takes on fundamental emotions like anxiety or sadness, though she'd experienced her (un)fair share of both. Yet, she knew that personal experiences are what can give songs life. Besides, life finds its way into art either way.

Partially worried she'd jinx it and partially worried it would be plain corny, she still felt a desire to write a song about her new relationship.

Whenever she wasn't working, she hammered away at that song for the first half of the week and wrote another in the second half. Four tracks down, six to go, she thought.

Meanwhile, Sam attended class and did his homework, and fluttered in his stomach every time he'd get a text from Jane.

By the end of the week, he'd decided that it'd been too long since he'd seen her emerald green eyes in person. He decided he'd drop in to see her at work near the end of one of her shifts.

Jane was just at the edge of her patience. It'd been a long day, and everybody in the mall was in the mood for a pretzel apparently. She rarely got like this, but she felt like she was on auto-pilot.

As she thought about how little time was left on her shift, a cute boy ordered the pepperoni pizza pretzel.

Sam was starting to freak out a little because he felt like Jane didn't even recognize him. He felt like a stranger to her. He got to the counter with a confused look on his face. His suave momentum had been stolen from under him.

As Jane handed over the pretzel it suddenly hit her.

"Sam!?" She said in half excitement, half shock.

"Ta-da..." He said awkwardly.

She gave him a light punch from across the counter. "Why didn't you say anything?"

She came around the counter and gave him a hug. She was caught off-guard, but also relieved to see a familiar face. Despite herself she'd actually been missing him.

"I guess my surprise worked." He said with a goofy sincerity.

Jane realized she had to be back behind the counter and quickly scooted to the register. She rang him up. Sam had not expected to actually get far enough to buy the pretzel, but he paid for it anyway, and left a generous tip.

"When's your shift end?" He asked.

Jane checked her phone and lit up.

"Right now!" she said. "Give me a second to close up shop."

Sam waited as she diligently put everything where it belonged and closed the shutter on the stand.

They started walking back to her place. Sam awkwardly held his pretzel.

Jane started laughing.

"You didn't expect to have to actually order, did you?"

"Nope!" Sam laughed.

"Why'd you do it?"

"I guess I thought it was kind of our thing."

"Yeah, well, food waste isn't my thing, so you better eat up!" She teased.

Sam reluctantly took a bite. He'd decided it wasn't as bad as he'd originally thought, but he knew he couldn't finish it.

"Split it with me?"

"You have any idea how grossed out I am from working with pretzels all day?" She said.

"Any more grossed out than I am now?"

She gave him an incredulous look, then grabbed half the pretzel from his hand. She let out a deep sigh and took a bite.

They both begrudgingly ate their pretzels, but laughed as they did so.

"Why are we subjecting ourselves to this?" She chuckled.

"We're very committed to the bit." He said with a dumb smile.

They continued talking as they made their way to Jane's apartment.

Miraculously they'd both finished their halves of the pretzels by the time they made it to her home.

Sam glanced at Holly's closed door as he walked in.

"She's out for the weekend." Jane assured him. "Seeing Jeremy."

"Ah. Glad she's having a good time." He paused. "Not that I don't want her around or anything, she's actually really cool and..."

Jane came up to him and stopped his words with a slow, passionate kiss. He dropped his arms limply.

Sam was caught off-guard, but quickly embraced the new situation, along with his lovely companion.

He grabbed her and pulled her into his arms as tightly as he could. She bit at the bottom of his lip and triggered an unexpected high-pitched moan from him.

He could have kept going for hours, but he sensed Jane withdrawing. As they parted lips Jane brought her arms up around his neck. She looked deeply into Sam's face for a moment, which was caught in the stupefying pleasure of their kisses. She looked like she wanted to commit his face deep to her memory, to swallow him up with her green eyes. She'd never been one for romantics, but then maybe she'd never found the right person.

"Whatchya lookin' at?" Sam said coyly.

"Guess."

Sam made a cute laugh instead of responding.

"So, what do you want to do tonight?" She asked with a suggestive glance.

"Hmm, I hadn't thought that far ahead." He feigned ignorance. "But I'm starting to think of some ideas."

He leaned in to recommence their kissing, bringing his hand to the crook of her neck, holding her head to his. Soft and gorgeous, she thought as his tender lips met hers, soft and gorgeous.

But soft was not what either of them were becoming, with Jane's penis becoming impressively large.

As she got more riled up, she wanted to be more assertive. She pushed him with some force towards the nearest wall, pinning him and place. It was now her turn to grab his head and hold it to her own. She loved the way her fingers glided through his luxurious long hair, the way it caught and parted strands, as if her hand was becoming part of him.

Sam surrendered to her domineering, finding it fueled his erection at an almost frightening pace. He felt around for her cock, quickly finding it struggling against her panties and the plain khakis of her work uniform. He applied pressure and elicited a moan from her, which only made him harder.

As they became increasingly devoted to each other's pleasure, Jane's phone began to vibrate. Her first instinct was to moan as it vibrated close to her penis and caused it to jolt in Sam's hand, but she quickly realized what was happening.

She abruptly withdrew from Sam and pulled out her phone.

"Fuck! I forgot my parents wanted to video chat." She quickly said.

"Can you tell them to call back later?" Sam suggested, realizing he was short of breath.

Jane glared at him.

The phone kept buzzing.

"Well, I'm not sure I'm ready to meet the parents quite yet."

"Of course you aren't, Sam."

She was exasperated, though whether at her parents, Sam, or both, she could not tell.

She made her way to Holly's room, which to Sam's surprise had a desk. The phone stopped ringing.

She gave her hair a quick touch-up, straightened out her uniform, and set up her phone to get a nice angle on her from the shoulders up.

Sam stood next to her, partially in frame.

"I guess we missed them." Sam said.

"In your dreams." She scoffed. The phone began ringing again. "Get down!" She commanded him.

Sam's first instinct was to crouch in front of her, in the space under the desk, which was surprisingly roomy. She gave him a perplexed look which he couldn't help but laugh in response to.

She answered the phone.

"Hey mom, hey dad." She waved at her phone.

"Hi Sweety!" Her mom said excitedly.

"What are you up to?" Asked her dad.

"Oh, you know, just got back from work, taking some time to destress."

As her parents responded to her Sam noticed that she was still hard from moments before. Now built up with sexual energy, his mind wasn't processing 100% rationally. All he could think about was her throbbing cock under her pants, eager to be released, eager to be pleasured.

He reached for her cock tentatively.

Shocked, she broke concentration with her phone and looked down at Sam.

Her look screamed "What on earth are you doing!?" though she didn't say anything out loud.

Seeking her consent, Sam queried with a thumbs up/thumbs down gesture.

She took a moment to think but found her throbbing cock was making the decision for her. She gestured a thumbs up.

"You alright, sweety?" Her mom asked.

"Yeah, totally." She said, returning her focus to them. "Just got my foot stuck on a weird wire down here."

Sam stifled his laughter as he let her refocus on her parents.

He again reached for her cock. He wondered how it felt sequestered in her panties. He felt for the outline of it in her pants. It had snaked its way out from between her legs and was lying almost completely sideways towards her left leg. He could see and feel it throbbing through the pants.

He traced its outline with his finger, feeling its hardness. He brought his palm to her penis and began to gently stroke it through the fabric. As he did so, he looked up at Jane.

She was trying to maintain normalcy with her parents, but he could tell she was struggling to hold in any signs of her pleasure. He could sense the hint of an almost frantic, rushed quality to her voice, like she was trying to bring the conversation to a close quicker so she could enjoy her sexual bliss. Her parents however, talked at a leisurely pace, taking their time, enjoying the face time with their daughter.

Sam glided his hand along her cock with more slightly more pressure, almost massaging it through the pants.

He decided he was only going to get so far with her pants still on. He awkwardly began to unbutton her khakis and pull down the fly. He tried to pull them down slightly but found he couldn't with her still sitting. Jane felt Sam pulling on her pants and made the split-second decision to help him in the process. She raised her butt off the seat enough to offer him some leverage.

She tried to minimize what would be seen on camera, but couldn't help appearing like she was awkwardly shuffling in place.

Finally, Sam got her pants to her knees, and from there to her ankles.

"Sorry, I'm in Holly's room because she has the desk, but her chair is uncomfortable." She tried to laugh off and excuse away her awkward shuffling.

Her comment prompted her parents to ask how Holly was.

Meanwhile, Sam took in the sight of Jane's cock struggling against her panties. She was wearing white panties with lacey fringes. The band connecting the front to the back was thin and the whole thing barely contained her massive cock.

Sam brought the panties down below her balls, prompting her cock to spring up into its fully erect glory. He took a moment to admire it, feeling his own cock spring to life at the sight.

He knew that whenever his cock sprang from such a position, it took a moment to resettle, so he focused on her balls instead, gently cupping them in his hand and rubbing them softly.

He finally brought his hand to her cock, feeling its throbbing warmth. Sam unconsciously started salivating.

He started moving his hand up and down the shaft every so slowly, bringing her foreskin up and back down the head of her cock. He could see her body tensing up as he pleasured her, stroking her cock in a smooth rhythm.
